otero-GPT is an open-source tool for assisting in scientific research paper reading and writing. It is a plugin for Zotero. By integrating ChatGPT-4.0 with Zotero, it brings unprecedented convenience to users.
Firstly, ChatGPT-4.0 can automatically generate paper summaries using its text generation capabilities, accurately and quickly outlining the core content of the paper and generating references, simplifying the writing process and improving writing efficiency.
Zotero-GPT can also translate papers. By selecting paragraphs in the paper that are not understood and asking ChatGPT-4.0 to explain the content.
Secondly, by simply entering keywords, you can quickly find the desired papers from the Zotero database, saving a lot of search time.
In addition, with the help of ChatGPT-4.0's intelligent prompts, you can more effectively manage and update the literature in your Zotero library, ensuring real-time updates of citation information.
In summary, the deep collaboration between OpenAI's GPT-4.0 and Zotero undoubtedly creates great convenience for us.

After installation, it should look like this:
Configure ChatGPT parameters (important):
Enter "gpt filter" to see the following list:
List of parameters:
-
secretKey: This is the OpenAI API key. It is recommended to use a key worth $120 as the OpenAI API charges based on tokens (word count). Using the entire paper may consume a large number of tokens.
-
API address: This is the default address for OpenAI's official API. Due to well-known reasons, this address cannot be directly accessed in China and requires special network access techniques.
-
model: This is used to set the dialogue model for GPT. The default model is gpt-3.5-turbo, which supports a context length of 4k. However, for processing papers, this length may not be sufficient and may result in errors. In this case, the model can be changed to gpt-3.5-turbo-16k, which supports a context length of 16k.
After completing the above settings, restart Zotero. On a Windows computer, use the shortcut Ctrl + / to bring up the OpenAI dialogue box. The dialogue box will be displayed as shown above.
